TIV 14 Asics Black

Coach La Afungia, Head Coach of TIV 14 Asics Black, brought in Heist Academy prior to the 2019-2020 season to run her team through our Mind Training + Mindfulness Camp. With club volleyball season just around the corner, this camp is the perfect way to start the season off strong and to make sure that every player is well equipped with tools that they can use all throughout the season. Tools such as breathing, positive self talk, creating positive affirmations, learning how to create a growth mindset, visualization, and learning how to be a better teammate on and off the court. 

At Heist Academy, we believe that you have to break in to break out. You have to dive deeper into yourself to learn why you do what you do. You have to be able to have honest conversations with yourself in order to realize that you have more inside of you, and that you can work harder and be more discipled in all that you do. That kind of willpower comes from having a strong Why and clear vision of what you want to accomplish.

During the two hour Mind Training + Mindfulness Camp, the girls learned about:

One of the biggest takeaways that many of the girls mentioned was that the camp gave them the ability to learn themselves and each other better, and that it helped them realize that volleyball is something they do, it’s not who they are. Others mentioned that they enjoyed learning more about how their mind and thoughts affect their words and actions not just as athletes, but as humans as well.

“One of my favorite parts was “Who Are YOU.” That stuck out because it’s been a while since I’ve really sat down and thought about who I am and why I’m here. I also really liked the layout. You talk so real to people. When you think about people coming to speak to you, it almost seems like they’re putting on a show, but you let it be so open discussion and real which was AWESOME.” -McKinley Chase
